SBC Advertising's Lucky 13 Gain Real World Experience

Columbus, OH (July 31, 2009) – With only three-and-a-half weeks of planning, two teams of SBC Advertising summer interns faced off to create the best new business presentation, which was judged by the agency's executives. The goal was to give the 13 summer interns hands-on experience at developing a client campaign.

"We threw quite a challenge at our interns by giving them a project that reflected an actual agency presentation," said Brandi Hann, SBC human resources director. "Our interns had the opportunity to demonstrate their talent, and we were extremely impressed with their work."

The new business presentation was focused around creating a back-to-college campaign for a major retailer. Guidelines included a three-and-a-half week deadline, a $2,000 imaginary budget and three campaign objectives. After hours of relentless brainstorming and preparation, both teams developed a fully integrated campaign that they presented to a panel of five judges including SBC president, David Dennis and chief creative officer, Neil Widerschein. After much debate over the two outstanding presentations, Team Two was selected as the winner.

While preparing for their presentations, both teams also had the opportunity to tour local focus group facilities, video production and photography studios, as well as participate in client projects and meetings.

Congratulations to the following interns:
